Liquefaction- A poem.

There are moments when
words fail. And all you can do
is be silent.

Leaning into the storm
no one else can feel.
But it whispers in your ears—

teasing your hair
like he used to,
in the second grade.

You sit straight. Stoic.
Only as a second grader
could, holding

it together.
